Lord, Say the Word
“Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof, but only say the word and my servant shall be healed.”
(cf. Luke 7:1–10)
A Roman centurion, a man of rank and authority, approaches Jesus through some friends—not with pride, but with astonishing humility and faith. He doesn’t ask for signs or demand a physical visit. He simply believes. He trusts that if Jesus says the word, his servant will be healed.
Jesus is moved. He marvels at such faith. And in response to that deep trust, the miracle happens: the servant is restored to health. What appears to be a simple encounter reveals something profound: God’s love crosses every boundary. Jesus responds to the cry of someone considered “unclean” by Jewish law. He dines with tax collectors, touches the sick, speaks with sinners—because His love knows no limits.
The Word that Sets Us Free
Amid the noise and chaos of our world—wars, injustice, fear, and confusion—Jesus continues to heal and set us free.
No valley is so dark that His Word cannot shine through.
He still speaks the Word—a Word that consoles, restores, and brings peace.
He is the Logos, the living Word of the Father, who gives meaning to the meaningless, order to the chaos, and healing to the broken. Even when we walk in the opposite direction, He never stops speaking, never stops calling us by name.
The Church in Motion, the Church Alive
Jesus lives among us and calls us to be His Church in action:
- His arms to embrace those who need comfort,
- His feet to carry the message of hope,
- His heart to love the forgotten and wounded.
Where is this Church?
This Church is you. This Church is me.
We are His body on earth. We are the ones who believe, who follow Him, who are nourished by His Body and Blood—not to remain still, but to go out and proclaim His Kingdom.
The Call: Faith, Mercy, and Mission
The world is crying out for a glimpse of the face of Christ—the face of the One who can do all things.
And who will reveal that face if not you, if not me, if not us?
Let us search for our neighbor with hearts full of mercy.
Let us lift up the forgotten, the suffering, the imprisoned, the sick, the discouraged.
Teach them to let their faith answer boldly:
“Lord, say the Word…”
🙏 Let Us Pray:
Lord Jesus, Living Word of the Father, teach me to trust like the centurion. Let my faith not depend on what I see, but on what I believe. Use me as an instrument of your compassion. Let me be a witness to your boundless love. Amen.
